Post-COVID Industry Outlook for Manufacturers

28.05.21 - 10:35 (heure d’Europe centrale)

Vaccines are being distributed. Case numbers are declining in many countries. And the marketplace is beginning to improve. Globally, however, there are still big disparities between the regions that will affect how manufacturers respond to the Post-COVID business climate. After more than a year of remote work and decreased production, it will be critical that operations and customer solutions remain flexible to growing demands.

With the market returning to a “new normal,” the competition will be even greater as manufacturers look to recapture lost revenue. Customers still expect accurate parts, fast. This means manufacturers must consider investing in advanced technologies that offer a greater competitive advantage – including laser technology and additive manufacturing. These innovative technologies help manufacturers enhance their production capabilities and allow them to offer more unique, custom solutions to their customers.

But capital investments need to be made in more than just advanced technologies, they should also be focused on revitalizing existing workflows. In fact, an industry study conducted at the end of 2020 found that manufacturers in 7 out of the top 10 industries – such as Aerospace, Automotive and Medical – are already planning major investments in upgrading to 5-axis or multi-tasking machines. These machine tools can help a facility stay flexible in a rapidly changing marketplace, where high-mix production is on the rise.

The deciding factor in these investments will not just be in the just machine tool technology, but also in the OEM partner that offers a true end-to-end solution. For many manufacturers, that means investing in business partnership that results in access to industry expertise, world-class technology, responsive customer support and ongoing training. This is something we strive to achieve every day at GF Machining Solutions. Our team is working to deliver an experience that eases the worry of integrating new types of technology, delivers peace of mind in helping design new parts and keeps our customers at the forefront of their industry.

As the business climate improves and production ramps up, it will be critical for manufacturers to identify the right investments to stay competitive and the right partner that can help achieve their business goals – and GF Machining Solutions is ready to meet the challenge.
