MTConnect is a lightweight, open protocol for exchanging data between shop floor equipment and monitoring or analysis software. It is a read-only standard, focused on extracting data from control devices without writing to them. Using open standards, MTConnect presents device data in XML format, accessed via HTTP from Agents.
